A Key & Peele reunion could finally be taking shape, but it may not be the comedy fans expect. In an interview, Keegan-Michael Key revealed that he and Jordan Peele have discussed making a horror movie together. The duo has not confirmed any project yet, but Key says the idea has come up multiple times.
The potential reunion would also mark a major genre shift for Key & Peele. Their last on-screen collaboration came in 2022, the animated horror film Wendell & Wild, seven years after their Comedy Central series ended in 2015. Since then, Peele has become a successful horror filmmaker with Get Out, Us, and Nope, while Key has continued taking on different roles.
Why Keegan-Michael Key believes a horror collaboration with Jordan Peele will happen one day
Key recently told People that he and Peele have already talked about making a horror movie together. He said, “We talk, I wouldn’t say constantly, but whenever we talk, we talk about it.” However, Key explained that Peele would only move forward if the project felt creatively right, adding, “Jordan’s a very considered thinker and a very careful thinker.”
The 55-year-old explained that Peele’s main priority is finding the right project that allows him to fully realize his vision. Key feels it is only a matter of time before they collaborate. He said, “I guarantee you, one day he’s just going to text me and go, ‘I think I have it.'”
Keegan-Michael Key explained that Jordan Peele would likely approach him with a role that fits the story, rather than making a film just because fans want to see Key & Peele together again.
Key’s interest in horror has also grown thanks to Peele. While discussing his new horror-comedy Buddy, he said, “Jordan Peele is the person that brought me back into appreciating the genre on a different level.” After working on Buddy, Key added that he would like to explore horror further.
For Key & Peele fans, a horror reunion would be exciting. There is no confirmed news of their collaboration yet, but Keegan-Michael Key’s comments show that the idea is still possible.
