Gal Gadot revealed the extreme lengths she took to protect herself from AI on her latest film. The actress broke down her six-month contract battle and explained why she chose to embrace the technology rather than fear it.

Gal Gadot discussed her upcoming Bitcoin film with director Doug Liman on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. The actress revealed significant concerns about the movie’s AI components during production. She specifically addressed how she protected her performance from artificial intelligence involvement.
Gadot spent six months negotiating her contract for the project. “I’ll tell you this was the longest contract I’ve ever worked on,” she said. She added, “I think it was 6 months for my lawyers to go through any scenario.” The actress firmly wanted boundaries around the technology’s use. “I absolutely did not want the AI to have anything to do with my performance,” she stated.
The Screen Actors Guild also took notice of her legal protections. “SAG had called my lawyers to ask for pointers to update the SAG contract to protect other actors,” Gadot revealed. Her contract negotiations essentially became a template for industry-wide AI safeguards. The guild wanted to learn from her team’s thorough approach.
Gadot acknowledged her complicated feelings about artificial intelligence in filmmaking. “I’m afraid of AI. But am I going to be afraid and look away? No,” she explained. She described actively engaging with the technology instead. “I’m afraid and I’m playing with it and I’m learning it,” the actress noted.
The AI component ultimately handled sets and lighting rather than performances. “Everything was stripped down and all that was left was the performance,” Gadot said. She compared the experience to performing theater. “We would film non-stop because we didn’t have to wait for lighting,” she added. The production still employed a broad crew throughout filming.
Gadot has not yet seen any finished shots from the project. She called Bitcoin “a crazy film” and said the filmmakers intended to keep that energy.
