Prince William reportedly has no interest in creating a picture-perfect reconciliation with Prince Harry. The brothers may now find themselves in the same country more often, but insiders claim that does not mean their relationship has repaired. William is reportedly still hurt by the events that widened the family divide. As a result, sources suggest he would rather keep any potential progress private than allow a public appearance to create misleading expectations.

Prince William and Prince Harry could find themselves in closer proximity now that Harry has allegedly returned to Britain with Meghan Markle and their children. However, an insider claims that does not mean William is prepared to share a public stage with his younger brother.
The position comes after years of tension between the siblings. Their relationship became increasingly strained after Harry and Markle stepped away from royal duties in 2020. Their later interviews, Netflix documentary, and Harry’s memoir “Spare” brought several family disputes into the public eye.
Harry has previously spoken about wanting to repair those relationships. During a BBC interview last year, he said he would “love reconciliation” with his family. More recently, his relationship with King Charles has shown signs of improvement following the family’s reunion at Highgrove.
William, however, is seemingly taking a different approach. One royal source told RadarOnline that William does not believe Harry’s return to Britain automatically changes anything between them. The insider alleged that appearing together at an official engagement could send the wrong message.
According to the source, William believes a photograph of the brothers standing side by side would be “interpreted as evidence that everything between them had been resolved.” That, the insider claimed, would not reflect the reality of their relationship.
“There is still considerable anger,” another source said, particularly over what William believes Harry and Markle put Kate Middleton and the wider family through. The insider claimed William’s priority remains “protecting his wife and children.”
At the same time, Harry’s return could naturally create more opportunities for the brothers to cross paths. He is expected to maintain his British connections through charitable work, including his involvement with the Invictus Games.
Still, a palace source drew a distinction between proximity and reconciliation. “Living in the same country is one thing,” the insider said, while suggesting that “behaving publicly as reunited brothers is quite another.”
