Adria Arjona has revealed Onslaught‘s biggest creative influence. The actress opened up about how director Adam Wingard took inspiration from Quentin Tarantino while filming the movie. Arjona recalled a bizarre on-set experience involving the filmmaker’s obsession with getting a specific blood effect.
In a recent interview with Jacqueline Coley, the American actress discussed her experience while promoting the upcoming horror film. The Thomas Crown Affair star explained that Wingard wanted the film’s fake blood to match a particular tone. “Adam really needed the blood to be a very specific color,” Arjona shared. “And he wanted it to be [Quentin] Tarantino’s red, like that specific red that he used in Kill Bill. It’s very specific. It’s only one maker that makes this blood.”
However, freezing temperatures made the water-based fake blood freeze on Arjona’s body. The 34-year-old revealed that makeup artist JQ mixed it with oil to keep the fake blood from freezing during filming.

Onslaught is an upcoming horror film set in the same town as Dan Stevens’ The Guest from 2014. It stars Adria Arjona as Celeste, a former military sniper who now lives in a desert trailer park with her daughter. The film also puts Drew Starkey as Cyrus opposite Arjona, fighting against the brutal threat of genetically engineered super-soldiers.
Dan Stevens plays the scientist, whose experiments create super-soldiers who now go rogue in the desert of Mexico, attacking civilians. Celeste and Cyrus must stop them before they can reach her daughter. The film also stars an ensemble cast of Eric Wareheim, Reginald VelJohnson, Michael Biehn, Alex Pereira, Maurice Greene, Blake Kennedy, Jacob Scipio, and Rebecca Hall.
Adam Wingard directs the film based on a screenplay he co-wrote with Simon Barrett. The duo has previously worked on projects including The Guest, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, and You’re Next. A24 distributes the R-rated movie. The film carries an R rating for bloody violence, gore, and language.
Onslaught arrives in theaters on September 4, 2026, distributed by A24.
