Jack Osbourne told E! News that the family has completed the script for his father Ozzy Osbourne’s biopic. The family is “currently going out to directors” for the film about the late Black Sabbath frontman. Ozzy Osbourne passed away at age 76 on July 22, 2025, after suffering a heart attack.
Jack Osbourne also revealed the family has someone in mind to portray the Prince of Darkness. “We do. I’m not allowed to say, but conversations have been had, and if it all works out, it’s gonna be awesome,” he said. Sony Pictures and Polygram Entertainment are jointly developing the project.
The younger Osbourne stressed that the film will prioritize fans above all else. “I have this mantra, and I always say it, when in meetings with my mom or doing anything with the family business,” he explained. “It’s, ‘give the fans what they want.’ That’s our people, that’s who we’re catering for.”
Jack Osbourne made clear the biopic will not take an overly artistic approach. “We can’t make this artsy, esoteric biopic,” he said during the interview. “No, we’re not doing that — for many reasons — but it’s not what the fans want.”
Sony Pictures first announced the biopic’s development back in 2021 alongside Polygram Entertainment. Oscar nominee Lee Hall initially signed on to write the screenplay for the project. The announcement described it as chronicling Ozzy’s extraordinary life and his love story with wife Sharon Osbourne.
