Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly set to return to the UK after quitting their royal duties in 2020. The homecoming is being viewed as a potential turning point for their relationship with the royal family. Sources suggest that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s reunion with King Charles last month has sparked new predictions that reconciliation is on the horizon.
PR Expert suggests Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have a chance at royal reconciliation amid UK return
In a surprising turn, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly moving back to the UK and have already enrolled their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, in British schools.
This development surfaced after the Sussexes made a brief trip to the UK last month for a private meeting with King Charles at his Highgrove estate. Responding to the speculation, an expert noted that the couple appears to be moving closer to a reunion with the Royal Family.
Olivia Bennett, Senior Digital PR Director at Go Up, believes that Harry’s return could mark the first reconciliation between the Sussexes and the Royal Family in six years. In her view, making peace with the royals could help win back public favor, per the Daily Express.
Bennett said, “Living closer together makes reconciliation more possible, but it doesn’t make it inevitable. I actually think a very public reconciliation would be the wrong thing to chase from a PR perspective.”
She went on to say, “If the relationship is genuinely improving, I’d let people notice it. Harry spending time with his father, the children seeing their grandfather, family occasions becoming more normal. Those things are much more credible than a big statement about healing relationships.”
The 41-year-old Duke has openly expressed his desire to make amends with his father. However, reports suggest that he remains estranged from his brother, Prince William.
Sources suggest the royal heir continues to feel hurt by the public airing of family matters. The fallout from Prince Harry’s revealing interviews and his memoir Spare has only added to the strain between the brothers.
