The first look for Brothers has dropped, and it reunites Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey. Apple TV’s latest comedy will see the duo of McConaughey and Harrelson come back following their stint in True Detective.
According to an exclusive update from Vanity Fair, Apple TV has revealed the first look at Brothers. Per the details provided, the duo will be playing a fictional version of themselves in the show. The first look shows the actors in their playful avatars, smiling and enjoying each other’s company. However, in one particular shot, both McConaughey and Harrelson could be seen staring down at each other intensely.
Brothers will serve as a sweet hit of nostalgia for all the McConaughey-Harrelson fans. Both stars have worked together on a number of projects, but the most popular of them all was True Detective. Harrelson played the role of Detective Marty Hart while McConaughey portrayed Detective Rust Cohle in the show. The on-screen chemistry of the actors received significant fan appreciation as they navigated and solved cases. Now, fans will be hyped to catch the duo in action once again in Brothers.
What else do we know about the Brothers TV show?
Brothers has been confirmed to be an eight-episode affair. Speaking about the plot of the show, the story will centre around McConaughey and Harrelson’s characters. During a visit to Matthew’s ranch in Austin, the central characters of the show will unravel the big secret that they might actually be brothers in real life.
The logline for the show, per Variety, reads, “As Woody turns the ranch upside down in pursuit of the truth, Matthew finds himself juggling an entirely different identity crisis: a potential run for Governor of Texas. The result is a heartfelt, chaotic and wildly funny story about friendship, family, fame and the messy line between myth and reality.”
Interestingly, the plot hints at the real-life story of the actors. Back in 2023, the 65-year-old actor revealed that his father had a temporary relationship with McConaughey’s mother. Such big news clarified that both the Hollywood stars might be half-brothers. Apart from the True Detective actors, the show will also star Holland Taylor, Natalie Martinez, Brittany Ishibashi, Nolan Almeida, Ella Grace Helton, Noah Carganilla, Highdee Kuan, and Oona Yaffe.
Brothers will premiere on Apple TV on September 23, 2026.
