Disney+ has released a trailer for The Simpsons: Yellow Mirror. It’s a dedicated special episode that parodies sci-fi tech thrillers. The upcoming episode in the long-running animated sitcom blends Springfield’s comedy with unsettling technology and reality-bending horror.
Titled Yellow Mirror, the new special draws its name from the popular anthology series Black Mirror. The 18th episode of Season 37 previews two strange stories in which technology quickly gets out of hand for Homer and Maggie.
According to the official synopsis, in one storyline, a defective lamp begins revealing a heartbreaking truth about what Home belives to be reality. In the latter, an AI-powered tablet befriends Maggie before completely taking control of her.

The 45-second trailer opens with a seemingly harmless birthday party outing. Marge hands over a tablet to keep restless Maggie entertained, prompting Homer to joke, “You found the baby’s off switch!”
Then the trailer narrator tells, “Disney+ has two twisted tales from The Simpsons,” while Bart falls into an endless dark world through the blackboard. He then warns, “Anything can happen in the Yellow Mirror,” as the screen transforms into an eerie title card.
The footage also introduces an AI villain named Hailey on a projection screen, with robotic dogs holding them off in a large hall. She addresses Springfield’s residents with a threatening message: “Hello, humans. Why don’t we settle down and use our incarcerated voices, OK?”
It then transitions into a flashback to Homer’s high school days. When a young Homer despairs that his reality never existed, Barney replies, “Well, that sucks. On the bright side, it’s fishstick Friday.”
Meanwhile, the AI-powered tablet takes control of Maggie, with Hailey singing songs to her. The technology appears to develop a mind of its own, putting the Simpson family in a dangerous situation. The trailer ends with a quick montage, including a scene in which Hailey holds the Earth in her hands.
The Simpsons: Yellow Mirror premieres August 26 exclusively on Disney+.
