Insidious: Out of the Further has received its initial Rotten Tomatoes score, and it’s better than fans expected. Directed by Jacob Chase, the sixth installment is set to release on August 21, 2026.
At the time of this article’s publication, the movie has a 60% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes. The upcoming supernatural horror film is currently ranked second behind the first Insidious (2010), which leads the list with a 66% score. It is followed by Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015), which has a 56% score.
Although the score was based on only 30 reviews, the rating could still change as more reviews are added. Chase and his team will surely have high expectations for the movie. After all, Insidious: Out of the Further was projected to break some significant box office records.
What are critics saying about Insidious: Out of the Further?
According to ComingSoon.net‘s Jonathan Sim, “Insidious: Out of the Further demonstrates that there is still gas in the tank for this franchise.” Sim also pointed out that, despite the film’s supernatural elements, Chase has managed to keep the tense moments of fear and suspense grounded in reality.
Alonso Duralde of The Film Verdict noted how the scary moments of the movie feel organically embedded into the storyline. His review read, “Chase finds organic ways to set up his scary set pieces, whether it’s the dentist’s office where Gemma works or a claustrophobic maze-like scene that coincidentally resembles a recent horror hit about endless spaces.”
Zofia Wijaszka of Nerdspin wrote, “With a phenomenal cast, layered acting, and familial themes that go beyond what we see, ‘Insidious: Out of the Further’ still keeps the ball of terror rolling.”
Miguel Angel Romero wrote, “Out of the Further comes closer than ever to the spirit in which one of the most beloved horror franchises of recent decades was conceived. Pure enjoyment.”
The sixth installment in the franchise and sequel to Insidious: The Red Door stars Amelia Eve alongside Brandon Perea, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, and a returning Lin Shaye, among others.
