Jimmy Kimmel needs no introduction, especially when it comes to the Emmy Awards, as he has hosted several shows over the years. Although he will not host this year’s awards, one of his Donald Trump–related messages has seemingly put him in the spotlight ahead of the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards.
Jimmy Kimmel uses Donald Trump’s repeated attacks on his show in 2026 Emmy FYC campaign
The famous host recently posted a “For Your Consideration” video on Instagram on Tuesday, August 18. Rather than highlighting moments from his show, the video focused on Donald Trump’s mocking attacks against Jimmy Kimmel.
The video featured several of the President’s attacks against the 58-year-old TV personality, including calling him “Not a talented person,” saying his “Ratings are terrible,” labeling him a “Whack Job,” and even demanding that he be “immediately fired.”
Jimmy Kimmel closed the video with a “For Your Consideration” message aimed at Emmy voters, then listed all the categories in which his show received nominations.
For context, the comedian and host’s show has earned nominations for Outstanding Variety Series, Outstanding Directing for a Variety Series, Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series, Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Series, Outstanding Production Design for a Variety or Reality Series, and Outstanding Technical Direction and Camerawork for a Series.
Kimmel captioned the post, “Thank you, Mr President, for your consideration #FYC.”
For context, the rift between the two has been going on for years. It began in 2016, when the Brooklyn-born TV personality started making Donald Trump’s statements part of the comedy on his show. In response, Trump called on ABC to remove Kimmel from the network in 2018.
During one of his Oscar hosting appearances, Jimmy Kimmel also took several jabs at the Republican Party leader while urging lawmakers to protect Obamacare. Trump reacted sharply to those jokes on social media in 2024, and the comedian responded with more jabs.
In September 2025, ABC briefly suspended Kimmel’s show following a comment, which the President used to claim victory.
