Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Outsmarted by New Princess Diana Book — Report

A new Princess Diana book could create an unexpected problem for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The memoir, written by Diana’s brother Charles Spencer, is set to revisit deeply personal parts of her life and legacy.

That could prove significant as the Sussexes are reportedly working on their own documentary about Harry’s late mother. Royal commentator Kevin O’Sullivan has now suggested that Spencer’s book may take away some of the ground the couple hoped to cover.

Host claims new Princess Diana book ‘might put a bit of a hole’ in Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s plans

According to reports, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are developing a deeply personal documentary about Princess Diana through Archewell Productions for Netflix. The project could coincide with the 30th anniversary of Diana’s death, potentially bringing renewed attention to her life and legacy.

Now, Diana’s brother Charles Spencer is preparing to tell his side of the story. Spencer’s upcoming memoir, “Swan Song: Diana, My Sister,” is expected to cover several personal chapters of Diana’s life. That reportedly includes her childhood, her difficult marriage to then-Prince Charles, and the final period before her death.

The book could also offer Spencer’s perspective on stories about Diana that have circulated for decades. He has allegedly said that he wants to address what he considers inaccuracies surrounding his sister’s life.

That is where TalkTV host Kevin O’Sullivan sees a possible problem for the Sussexes. Speaking on the show, he suggested that Spencer’s memoir could potentially interfere with the plans for Harry and Markle’s documentary. “This book, I think, might put a bit of a hole in Harry and Meghan’s plans,” O’Sullivan said. He went on to suggest that the couple may have “had a march stolen on them” by Spencer’s decision to publish his account.

The comment appears to relate mainly to timing. If the reported documentary focuses on Diana, Spencer’s memoir could put another deeply personal account of her life before audiences. As a result, some of the territory the documentary might explore could already have been discussed publicly.

Royal biographer Angela Levin also weighed in during the TalkTV discussion. She noted that someone looking into the memoir had suggested it appeared to contain material “similar to what Harry said” previously in “Spare.” “I don’t think he should have done that,” she added.

Meanwhile, O’Sullivan also connected the book to the wider tensions surrounding the Royal Family. The host argued that Diana’s legacy remains intertwined with the ongoing dispute involving the Sussexes and other members of the monarchy.
