Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider Caves to Outrage After Ozzy Osbourne Critique

Dee Snider apologized to Kelly Osbourne after comments about Ozzy Osbourne‘s songwriting contributions sparked a public dispute. Snider issued the apology on X after a user suggested Kelly may have felt his remarks diminished her father’s legacy.

Dee Snider addresses Kelly Osbourne after comments about Ozzy Osbourne’s songwriting legacy

Snider entered the earlier discussion after a social media user referred to Daisley’s claim that he wrote a large amount of the lyrics for No Rest for the Wicked before being fired and told the lyrics were no longer needed.

Snider wrote, “‘A load’? How about ALL the lyrics? Ozzy always had bass players write his lyrics.” He also said Geezer Butler wrote all of Black Sabbath‘s lyrics and credited Daisley with writing lyrics for Ozzy’s first two solo albums. Snider additionally named Lemmy Kilmister as a lyricist.

Kelly later posted a statement on Instagram Stories, writing that her father’s “legacy as a musician, songwriter, singer and bandleader speaks for itself.” She also called it “spectacularly classless” for Snider to question Ozzy’s abilities and achievements after his death.

She compared Ozzy’s nearly six decades in Black Sabbath and as a solo artist with what she described as Snider’s “brief period of mainstream success more than 40 years ago.” Kelly also questioned why Snider had commented on her father’s legacy.

Snider subsequently said he had not intended to attack Ozzy. “And again. To be clear, I HAVE NOTHING BUT LOVE FOR OZZY,” he wrote, adding that Ozzy had always been lovely to him and that Black Sabbath changed his life.

After one X user said Kelly may have interpreted Snider’s comments as diminishing Ozzy’s legacy, Snider replied that he had been looking for the right response. He then addressed Kelly directly.

“I’m sorry what I said hurt you. It was never my intent. My sympathies on the loss of your dad,” Snider wrote.
