Callum Turner Responds To James Bond Buzz With One Cryptic Answer

Callum Turner kept things vague when asked about the ongoing speculation surrounding his potential casting as James Bond. The actor, who has been linked to the role since Daniel Craig’s departure, said, “It’s just so loaded, it’s just such a loaded thing.”

The next James Bond adventure is already taking shape at Amazon MGM Studios and is targeting a 2028 release. With Denis Villeneuve directing and Steven Knight writing, the biggest mystery now is who will become the next 007. And Turner is one of several actors whose names have been swirling in the long-running race to take over the iconic role.

When Esquire asked if he would be the next actor to step into 007’s iconic shoes, Turner laughed and replied, “I’m not going to comment on that.” And added by saying, “I don’t know anything, so I can’t comment. There’s nothing for me to comment on.”

When questioned about whether he would like to become the next James Bond, he said, “I’m not going to comment. It’s just so loaded, it’s just such a loaded thing.” When the interviewer suggested he’d make a “good” James Bond, Turner replied, “I appreciate that.”

In 2023, the London-born actor joked to People that his mother might be responsible for the online buzz and betting odds linking him to the iconic role. The actor, who made his on-screen debut in the 2011 film Zero, said, “I think that’s my mum. She just puts that out there. So when my odds get higher, it’s all her putting the money on.”

One Night Only, which hit theaters on August 7, is Turner’s latest film following 2025’s Eternity. The actor, who married Dua Lipa in May, will next star in Apple TV’s upcoming cyberpunk series Neuromancer, premiering January 22, 2027.
