Princess Charlotte’s New Passion Will Have Kate & William Take a Non-Royal Role — Report

Princess Charlotte’s growing love for netball could give her parents a very different kind of weekend commitment. The young royal reportedly plays for an out-of-school team that competes at a high level across the country.

That means Kate Middleton and Prince William may soon be spending more time at netball courts rather than royal engagements. According to a report, they could be making early starts, traveling to away matches, and watching their daughter play from the sidelines.

Kate Middleton and Prince William could find themselves traveling to Princess Charlotte’s netball matches. The young royal is reportedly part of a competitive team that plays against other teams across the country.

That could mean early mornings, long drives, and plenty of time on the sidelines. In other words, the Waleses may have to put their royal duties aside and simply be parents supporting their daughter.

“All of the parents of the girls on the opposing teams are wondering whether or not they’re going to run into William and Kate,” a source told the Daily Mail. The insider added that it would be amusing to see them in such a “down-to-earth environment.”

Charlotte’s growing interest in netball has already been visible. Earlier this month, she attended the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with her parents and brothers. The family watched netball matches during their visit, including the women’s semifinal between Australia and Jamaica. The outing gave Charlotte an opportunity to watch some of the sport she enjoys at an international level. She also posed for photographs with members of the Scotland team alongside her mother.

Her connection to netball is not entirely surprising. Middleton has previously spoken about playing the sport herself and helping Charlotte with her shooting technique. During a 2023 SportsAid event, England netball player Ama Agbeze recalled the Princess of Wales explaining that she had been teaching her daughter how to shoot.

Meanwhile, Middleton has long had a reputation for being sporty. She captained her hockey team at Marlborough College and has taken part in several sports during royal engagements. She has played tennis, cricket and rugby, too. In fact, the mother of three has also famously played volleyball in wedges during a 2013 SportsAid event.

Charlotte, however, appears to be developing her own sporting interests. Along with netball, she has reportedly shown enthusiasm for gymnastics, dance, rugby, and running.
