MobLand Season 3 has received a worrying update ahead of its Season 2 premiere from Paramount+. This comes after the behind-the-scenes controversies involving the lead star and the head writer and executive producer made headlines earlier this year.
In an interview with Deadline, Paramount+’s Head of Originals, Jane Wiseman, confirmed that Season 3 of the hit show has not yet been greenlit for production. When asked about the status of MobLand’s third season, Wiseman replied, “We haven’t made a decision on Season 3 yet.”
Moreover, before the aforementioned question, she was asked if everything was “okay on MobLand after the behind-the-scenescommotion involving Tom Hardy.” Instead, Wiseman spoke about Season 2 and said, “Season 2 is unbelievable. It is so explosive. We just released the trailer. It’s firing all cylinders. I’m really excited about this season.”
Since she dodged the question and Season 3 has not yet been greenlit despite MobLand’s success, this update comes as a disappointment to fans of the show. Yet, fans can rejoice as the second season of the show will premiere later this year.
Tom Hardy leads MobLand into an explosive second season
As Wiseman stated above, Season 2 of the hit Paramount+ show is explosive as Hardy’s character, Harry Da Souza, struggles against rising rivals and family tensions. A recent trailer was unveiled for Season 2, showing the challenges the Harrigans must face alongside their loyal fixer, Harry.
As per the official synopsis, “Harry Da Souza must walk a dangerous tightrope when tensions within the family intensify. As violence spills into every corner of their lives, loyalties snap, safety proves temporary, and the battle for power leaves no room for mercy.”
MobLand Season 3 will have Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren reprising their respective roles as Conrad and Maeve Harrigan. Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Johnny Flynn, Anson Boon, and Mandeep Dhillon are also part of the new season, among others.
Executive producers include Hardy, David C. Glasser, Guy Ritchie, Jez Butterworth, Ivan Atkinson, Dean Baker, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, and Keith Cox.
MobLand Season 2 will premiere globally on Paramount+ on Friday, September 18.
