Following the departure of several major cast members from the series, The Studio actor has joined Scrubs Season 2. The latest installment of the Scrubs revival will premiere on September 30, 2026, on ABC and Hulu.

Just months before the premiere of Scrubs Season 2, Variety reported in July 2026 that X Mayo and Joel Kim Booster had parted ways with the project. Mayo played Nurse Pippa, and Booster portrayed Dr. Kevin Park. Both characters were part of the first season of the show’s revival. Now, following the departure of the duo, Keyla Monterroso Mejia has joined the cast members for Scrubs Season 2, per Deadline.

The actress and comedian will play a fun, slightly sassy, and energetic nurse. Mejia will star as Mimi, the new surgical nurse for Turk. The character of Mimi will be joining Sacred Heart Hospital. Deadline further revealed that Mimi will be loyal and dependable.

Keyla Monterroso Mejia has previously worked on projects including Freeridge (2023), The Estate (2022), One of Them Days (2025), and others.

Who else is returning for Scrubs Season 2?

While Mejia will be a new addition to the cast, several members from Season 1 will reprise their roles in Season 2. Ava Bunn will play Dr. Sam Tosh. Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, and Donald Faison will also reprise their roles as Dr. John “J.D.” Dorian, Dr. Elliott Reid, and Dr. Chris Turk, respectively.

The cast would also feature John C. McGinley, Judy Reyes, Ken Jenkins, Neil Flynn, Ricky Schroder, Sam Lyold, Amy Smart, Robert Maschio, and Aloma Wright alongside others.

The synopsis for Scrubs Season 2 reads, per Variety, “J.D., Turk and Elliot have leveled up from interns to icons at Sacred Heart. Now, the respected doctors inspire the next generation while balancing the ups and downs of working in a hospital. Together with characters new and old, they are navigating this next chapter with laughter, heart, and some surprises along the way.”
