According to a royal expert, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have struggled to address one major issue, which has reportedly become a significant hurdle for the Sussexes. The couple stepped down as working royals in January 2020 and later relocated to Montecito, California, USA.
Since then, Harry and Meghan have publicly addressed their grievances with the royal family through their interview with Oprah Winfrey and the prince’s memoir, “Spare.” However, royal commentator Sarah Vine believes the Sussexes have consistently chosen the wrong time to speak about their issues.
Expert analysis focuses on the Sussexes’ public perception
Royal expert Sarah Vine has explained in her column to Daily Mail what Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have actually done wrong over the years. For the unversed, the Sussexes have discussed intricate details about the royal family on their Netflix docu-series. Not only that, Harry also released his hard-hitting, tell-all memoir, “Spare,” in 2023, just a few months after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Vine criticized the Duke of Sussex’s decision to publish the memoir shortly after his grandmother’s passing. She wrote: “It was a serious miscalculation on Harry’s part. The country was bereft, grieving the one person who had been a constant for so long and who had spent her life in its service. And here was Harry, dragging his family through the mud.”
The royal columnist believes that the Sussexes have consistently chosen the wrong time to put out their content. This is “ultimately” where it all went “wrong” for the couple, as they came across as people who always complained a lot.
Vine penned: “For two people who claim to be so in tune with their feelings and those of others, time and again they have demonstrated a complete lack of emotional intelligence, combined with a weapons-grade sense of entitlement. They are so wrapped up in their own drama, so insulated in their bubble of privilege, they fail to realize how thoroughly charmed their existence is. And that is a most unattractive trait.”
The royal expert also slammed the Duke of Sussex for abandoning his family when they probably needed him the most. Not only that, she rebuked Harry for allegedly weaponising his pain and grief for his own agenda.
