A new Spider-Man report suggests that there could be an X-Men crossover. Spider-Man: Brand New Day was recently released in theaters and became a huge box-office success. The new movie also introduced the first mutant cast member of the X-Men reboot, Sadie Sink as Jean Grey.
Recently, scooper Alex Perez shared an important detail about the friendship between Peter Parker and Grey, which was introduced to audiences in the latest Tom Holland movie.
In a Patreon/Discord Q&A, the Cosmic Circus insider was asked, “The last time we saw Peter and Jean together, Jean said she had no one left, and Peter reassured her that she now has him. Are there plans to build on that friendship, or even make Spider-Man an ally/friend of the X-Men? Both characters have a history with being cloned, so maybe something could happen there?”
To which Perez replied, “Be close friends with the X-Men after that.” This hinted that the web-slinger and the mutant, along with other X-Men members, could appear as friends in Marvel’s future installments.
That said, this is only a rumor and should be treated as such until confirmation from Marvel or Disney is provided.
Why a Spider-Man and X-Men MCU crossover makes sense after Brand New Day
Although the report has not yet been officially confirmed, the MCU crossover between Spider-Man and the X-Men is not particularly absurd. Besides, with the introduction of the Grey-Parker friendship in Brand New Day, the web-slinger could be seen in future X-Men movies, even if it’s just a cameo.
The introduction of the first mutant in the new reboot aligns with Peter’s timeline. Moreover, the legacy the wall-crawler left for the next generation of X-Men in the MCU is the universal inhibitor, which he uses to suppress his arachnid traits. This was taken by the Damage Control Department, providing them with their ultimate mutant-hunting formula.
As of now, the X-Men Reboot project is in the early stages of production and is slated for release in 2028. There is no official information about the plot as of now.
