The Asylum has released the new horror film Insidious: Possession trailer. The film is the studio’s mockbuster take on the franchise. The horror film arrives ahead of the next major sequel in the franchise, Insidious: Out of the Further. Insidious: Possession will be The Asylum’s first film taking inspiration from the horror franchise.
“A troubled teen invites the darkest of all demons into her soul. Now it will not leave without taking the life of another, someone tied by blood to that of the possessed,” reads the film’s synopsis.

What do we see in the Insidious: Possession trailer?
The trailer starts with a Father of the Church talking about a family he knows where a teenage daughter, Carley, is unwell. He describes the girl as being “volatile” and “withdrawn”, revealing she may be linked to a teacher’s recent suicide. The girl’s parents are then shown to be concerned for her health, stating that she has been having mood swings that make her act out of character. Carley is then shown attacking her parents while at the hospital, sporting bloodshot eyes. A member of the church works with others to try and cast out the demon possessing the girl. The trailer ends by revealing a demon entity.
Insidious: Possession is directed by Marcel Walz from a screenplay written by Joshua Pruett. The Asylum is a production company best known for hit mockbusters like the Sharknado movies, Immortal Combat, Shark Trash, Master of the Universe, and more. The filmmaker previously helmed other mockbusters from The Asylum, including The Odyssey, The Anacondas, Jurassic Reborn, and more. The film stars Dominic Keating, Llana Barron, Krymis J Fernando, and Bryan Barron.
Similar to the events of Possession, Insidious: Out of the Further will deal with a young single mother with the ability to bring the residents of the purgatorial dimension into the real world. The new installment will be released a week after Insidious: Possession.
Insidious: Possession will be available digitally on August 14, 2026.
