Olivia Munn says other women have helped her through one of the hardest parts of her life. Now, the actor wants to give some of that help back. She is starting a social media series about breast cancer, recovery, and the questions people still ask her.
Olivia Munn says the breast cancer community has become a source of support
Munn announced the series in an Aug. 12 Instagram video. She called the breast cancer community the “worst club with the best members.” She also praised the women she has met since her diagnosis. Munn said they have been kind, open and ready to help. Hearing other women share their stories also gave her hope when she felt lost.
The new series is meant to offer cancer support to patients and to people caring for someone with the disease. Munn said speaking about her own story can also be healing. Munn learned she had aggressive Luminal B breast cancer in both breasts in April 2023. She shared the news with the public in March 2024.
Her care has included five surgeries, including a double mastectomy. She has also spoken about what comes after the biggest procedures. Some days are good, she said, while others are still hard. She continues to deal with medication and the effects of surgical menopause.
That long recovery has shaped many of her recent comments. Munn once said Kate Middleton’s words about life after cancer treatment made her feel less alone. She said it helped to hear someone else admit that recovery can stay hard even after major treatment ends.
Munn has also shown the physical side of her journey. In 2024, she chose to show her mastectomy scars in a SKIMS campaign. She said she no longer wanted to hide them. Her new series goes one step further. Munn plans to answer questions from followers and keep the videos on her page as a resource.
Her worst club, best members message sums up the bond she has found with other women. For Munn, that support now means comfort, advice and hope.
