Meghan Markle has faced a harsh assessment of her standing in the public spotlight, with one royal commentator arguing that Prince Harry remains the bigger draw in their relationship. The remarks come as Markle continues working to carve out an identity of her own through entertainment and business ventures.
Despite those efforts, however, her association with Harry and the Royal Family remains central to the public fascination surrounding the couple.
Meghan Markle told she is not the ‘main attraction’ in relationship with Prince Harry, claims source
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are facing fresh scrutiny over how their individual profiles are perceived. The comments came during a conversation between American royal commentator Kinsey Schofield and British “TalkTV” host Kevin O’Sullivan.
O’Sullivan, who has frequently criticized the Sussexes, questioned whether Markle considers herself the bigger draw in their relationship. “She still thinks she’s the main attraction in the relationship, but of course she’s not,” O’Sullivan said, as per RadarOnline.
He went on to argue that Harry’s royal identity remains a major reason for the public’s interest in the couple. “The prince is the main attraction. The prince is the story,” O’Sullivan claimed. He also alleged that without Harry, “Brand Meghan” would lose much of the attention it currently receives.
The remarks come as Markle continues to share parts of her personal life publicly. For her 45th birthday, she posted footage of herself dancing in her kitchen while wearing a small tiara. She was also seen jumping into a swimming pool during the celebrations. Those posts subsequently became a talking point among her critics, according to the report.
However, one must note that Markle’s public identity did not begin with her relationship. She was already internationally recognized for her role as Rachel Zane on “Suits” before marrying the Duke in 2018. Since then, she has pursued several projects of her own while the couple has built a life away from the UK.
More recently, Markle returned to acting with a cameo as herself in Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming comedy “Close Personal Friends.” The project also stars Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Jack Quaid, and Henry Golding. The role would mark her first acting appearance in roughly eight years.
