Before Meghan Markle married Prince Harry and became a part of the British royal family, she had a starring role in Suits. While she quit acting, Markle still had a dream of being part of Hollywood. However, she has not been able to achieve it due to her overly manicured image, according to one insider.
Meghan Markle’s ‘self-controlled’ image reportedly affected her Hollywood dream
Since relocating to America with her family, Meghan Markle has made several attempts to crack Hollywood. From podcasting to TV production, she has tried her hand at a variety of things. None of them worked out for her as well as she expected.
An insider close to her told Closer that the Duchess of Sussex blocks her own path to success. They said, “Meghan is too guarded and too self-controlled to succeed in the podcasting world, and she’s afraid to go on other people’s shows where she’ll get asked tough questions in a long form setting.”
“Unfortunately, that’s really the only effective avenue to grow a show, and Meghan isn’t willing to go to those lengths. After everything she’s been through with her bumpy relocation to America and attempts to make a media fortune, she’s still her own worst enemy,” the source continued.
The insider added, “Everything she does is so manicured and rehearsed that nobody will ever look to her for authentic moments. In podcasting, that’s a death sentence.” Markle’s refusal to let her guard down makes it harder for fans to connect with her.
The former actress and Prince Harry signed a $20 million audio deal with Spotify in 2020 for her podcast, Archetypes. After the audience criticized it for its lack of authenticity, Spotify scrapped it in 2023. Last year, Markle took another shot at podcasting, partnering up with Lemonade Media. She launched a new series, Confessions of a Female Founder with Meghan. However, this too did not land well with fans, and its future remains uncertain for now.
