Cardi B‘s latest music video shoot in New York City took an unexpected turn after a confrontation between a photographer and security ended with police stepping in. The incident unfolded in front of fans who had gathered to watch the rapper film her latest project.

According to TMZ, a 70-year-old photographer identified as Steven Sands was briefly handcuffed by NYPD officers. It happened after a dispute with security during Cardi B’s permitted music video shoot in Brooklyn’s Sunset Park neighborhood.
Law enforcement sources told the outlet that Sands crossed police barriers surrounding the production and ignored repeated instructions from both event staff and officers. Police said he continued disrupting the filming despite multiple warnings. Officers ultimately detained him, issued him a criminal court summons for disorderly conduct and later released him without making an arrest.
Video shared on social media showed Sands in handcuffs beside an NYPD patrol vehicle while officers handled the situation. The production continued after the brief disruption.
Sands, however, offered a different version of events. He told TMZ that he arrived at the filming location before Cardi B. He claimed a security guard instructed him to stand behind equipment, preventing him from getting a clear photo of the rapper. According to Sands, he asked to move about 10 feet to an open area where he could take better pictures.
When security allegedly refused the request, Sands said he responded, “I don’t mean to be rude, but I don’t care what Cardi wants.” He claimed the confrontation quickly escalated, ultimately leading to police placing him in handcuffs and issuing the summons.
The music video shoot attracted a sizable crowd after fans spotted Cardi filming near Fourth Avenue and 48th Street. Organizers had secured permits for the production, with barriers and event staff managing the growing number of spectators throughout the afternoon.
Neither Cardi B nor her representatives have publicly commented on the confrontation involving Sands.
