Donald Trump and US Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh‘s relationship has recently become the center of attention. This happened after it was reported that the two had been communicating repeatedly since Warsh assumed office. Warsh was appointed as the chairman by Trump in May this year.

Wall Street Journal reported that Donald Trump and Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh have been in touch. They have been interacting with each other since the latter’s appointment. However, the President denounced this claim and suggested otherwise.
Previously, White House spokesperson Kush Desai also addressed the WSJ’s claim. He said, “President Trump has repeatedly stressed that he is giving Chairman Warsh the space he needs to restore confidence and competence in Fed decision-making.”
According to a CNBC report, Trump stated that he had not had regular calls with Warsh but had spoken with him “one time, briefly, a few days ago.” At the end of July, Trump was also asked during an Oval Office meeting whether he was disappointed with Warsh on the topic of interest rates.
As per Reuters, Trump replied by praising Warsh, “Kevin’s fantastic, he’s got a board. He’s a brilliant guy. He’s smart. I know I’d love to see lower interest rates, but he’s got a board, and it’s a political board, and they want to keep rates up. But we fight through this. You have the greatest, we have the strongest investment ever made in a country of any country.”
Trump was the one who nominated Warsh to be the Fed chairman in March 2026 and succeed Jerome Powell. Warsh took the oath of office as Fed chair in May after winning with a 54-45 vote. His term is set to conclude in May 2030.
