Myers claims Middleton was a key “catalyst” behind the initiative. As Mirror U.K. reports, he said William had doubts about whether the project could reach the level of global success it has achieved. However, Middleton’s encouragement allegedly helped him take the idea forward.
The Earthshot Prize was launched in 2020. Since then, it has become closely associated with William’s environmental work. The initiative highlights innovative solutions to some of the world’s biggest environmental challenges, giving the Prince of Wales a platform to promote practical action.
Importantly, Middleton’s involvement reportedly does not end with supporting her husband. Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond said the couple is “completely aligned” in their concern for nature and the climate crisis. She suggested Middleton’s interest in environmental issues is personal, rather than simply a reflection of William’s priorities.
That shared outlook has also been evident in William’s recent comments. Following devastating wildfires across parts of Europe, he described the situation as a “stark reminder of the challenges posed by an increasingly extreme climate.” His Earthshot work has similarly focused on solutions and optimism rather than simply highlighting the problem.
Meanwhile, the couple is reportedly preparing to bring that partnership to the international stage. Middleton is due to accompany William to the 2026 Earthshot Prize ceremony in Mumbai in November. They will also reportedly spend time in Delhi during the visit, according to the Mirror’s report.
The appearance could carry particular significance for the pair. It would be their first joint official overseas trip since Middleton returned to international duties. Their support, however, reportedly works both ways. Bond pointed to William’s backing of Middleton’s early-years work, where he has been willing to support her campaign without taking over the spotlight. In turn, she has allegedly done the same for his environmental ambitions.
