Anthony Scaramucci has made fresh comments about Donald Trump‘s relationship with his wife, Melania Trump. He claimed that the couple’s relationship has become “distant.” The ex-Trump adviser also suggested that they have grown apart and are living separately, adding to ongoing speculation about their private relationship.
Ex-Adviser talks about Donald Trump and Melania’s relationship dynamic
Former Donald Trump adviser Anthony Scaramucci has suggested that the president and first lady Melania Trump have grown apart. Speaking on The Daily Beast Podcast, Scaramucci said Melania’s reduced presence during Trump’s second term may also have affected how the president behaved, arguing that she had previously had more influence over him.
Scaramucci, who served as Trump’s communications director for 11 days during his first administration, compared Trump’s current presidency with his first term. He said Melania previously played a role in keeping Trump’s behavior in check.
“When she was more friendly with him, she would tell him to tone it down and he would actually listen to her,” he said. He added, “There’s very few people that Trump listens to.”
Talking about the couple’s relationship, Scaramucci described it as “distant.” He continued, “I think it’s distant for a number of different reasons. But I think they probably have grown apart.” He did not provide further details about what he believes caused the change.
According to The Daily Beast, Melania appeared publicly 47 times in 2025 after Trump’s January 20 inauguration. She was then seen on 38 days during the first seven months of 2026.
Scaramucci also explained why he believes Trump‘s family has remained less involved in his second administration. According to the former adviser, “The family unit that came into Trump 1.0 didn’t like it. They didn’t like the blistering in Washington. They didn’t like the 360-degree firing squad. I don’t think they like the spotlight that was put on them.”
