Unique Lego Movie With Snoop Dogg Arrives on Prime Video Today

Unique LEGO movie featuring Snoop Dogg has officially found a new streaming home on Prime Video. Directed by Academy Award winner Morgan Neville, the documentary-comedy film tells the life story of Pharrell Williams through colorful LEGO animation.

Piece by Piece has arrived on Prime Video today, August 7, 2026. The film follows Williams’ journey from his childhood in Virginia Beach to becoming one of music’s most influential artists. It also visualizes his synesthesia, a sensory condition that makes him see music as vivid colors. The film also features LEGO minifigure versions of Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Gwen Stefani, and other artists.

“The movie is an unparalleled motion picture experience that invites audiences on a vibrant journey through the life of cultural icon Pharrell Williams. Told through the lens of LEGO® animation, turn up the volume on your imagination and witness the evolution of one of music’s most innovative minds,” reads the synopsis.

Why Piece by Piece stands out from other music biopics

Piece by Piece breaks from the traditional storytelling style of music biopics that heavily rely on archival footage or recreations. Every scene, from Pharrell’s childhood bedroom to recording studios and award shows, is shown through brickfilm animation. The creative style reflects Pharrell’s own view of the world, where ideas come together like LEGO bricks.

The film handles conceptual ideas in a way traditional documentaries can’t. Given Pharrell’s synesthesia, the animation shows it instead of narrating it, turning sound into shifting blocks of color on screen.

One of the movie’s standout moments recreates the recording of Snoop Dogg’s hit Drop It Like It’s Hot. The rapper explains how working with Williams earned him his first No. 1 single and helped unlock a new creative direction.

Those creative aspects received widespread acclaim from critics when the film debuted in 2024. Even though it did not find much success at the box office, the film holds an 83% Tomatometer score and an 89% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Piece by Piece is now available on Prime Video.
