Following Carson Daly’s exit from The Voice after the new spinoff announcement, an insider revealed that the decision was made for him. The new spinoff will feature a celebrity-focused format with a different approach. Keke Palmer is stepping in as the host of the series.
Sources claim NBC chose Keke Palmer for fresh energy while keeping Carson Daly on as a producer
According to USA Today, NBC announced The Voice: Celebrity on August 4, introducing it as an “extension” of the original show. The new season brings major format changes, along with new features like Boot Camp, the VIP Room, and the Workroom, reports NBC.
Following the news, Daly addressed the speculation on Instagram. He clarified that not hosting The Voice: Celebrity does not mean he is stepping away from the main show, which he hosted since 2011.
However, a TV insider shared a different perspective with Naughty But Nice. The individual told Rob Shuter, “This wasn’t Carson’s call.” Adding, “NBC wanted fresh energy, a younger face, and someone who could light up social media. Keke was the obvious choice. Carson is trying to frame it as a smooth transition, but the decision was made for him.”
“Nobody wants to admit they’ve been replaced,” another source said. The source further stated that keeping Carson on as a producer was the network’s way of softening the transition. However, the source added that the host is ultimately the face of the show, and that spotlight now belongs to Keke.
The original version of The Voice is set to return this fall with a new season. Daly is set to return for Season 30, premiering in September 2026. The coaching panel will feature Kelly Clarkson, Riley Green, Queen Latifah, and Adam Levine.
