Alice Evans and Ioan Gruffudd‘s long-running divorce battle has finally reached a major turning point. A California judge has ruled that the actor must increase the financial support he pays his ex-wife, bringing years of courtroom disputes closer to an end. The decision follows months of legal arguments over finances, custody, and allegations made by both sides during the high-profile divorce.
A judge ruled that Ioan Gruffudd must increase support payments to Alice Evans
According to the Daily Mail, High Court Judge Michael J. Convey largely ruled in Evans’ favor on financial issues. As a result, Gruffudd must increase his maintenance payments despite successfully renewing a restraining order against his former wife earlier this year.
The judge ordered the Fantastic Four actor to pay Evans 10% of his gross income. That amounts to about $1,862 per month under the terms of the couple’s prenuptial agreement.
Gruffudd had argued that he should not pay spousal support because of Evans’ alleged abusive conduct. He also claimed he had overpaid her by nearly $400,000. However, after reviewing evidence from forensic accountants, the judge found the overpayment totaled about $27,000 instead.
Judge Convey also addressed Evans’ online conduct toward Gruffudd and his wife, Bianca Wallace. In his written ruling, he said Evans had engaged in a “relentless and continuing” campaign of harassment that caused emotional distress to the couple.
Even so, the judge concluded that the behavior did not prevent Evans from receiving support under California family law and the terms of the prenuptial agreement. He noted that her actions amounted to a misdemeanor rather than a criminal conviction.
The ruling also acknowledged Evans’ financial struggles since the couple separated in 2021. She told the court she had exhausted her savings to cover living expenses while raising the couple’s daughters, Ella and Elsie, who the judge noted spend all of their time with her.
The judge did criticize Evans for failing to disclose a savings account in a timely manner. He said the omission affected her credibility during the proceedings.
The decision brings one of Hollywood’s most contentious divorces closer to a conclusion. According to the Daily Mail, friends of Evans said she is relieved the legal fight is ending and hopes to move forward after years of litigation. Meanwhile, neither Gruffudd nor Wallace has publicly commented on the latest ruling.
