President Donald Trump has posted an AI photo showing himself as a top general. The photo places him above two of America’s most decorated WWII commanders. The ex-businessman shared the bizarre photo on Truth Social on Tuesday.
Donald Trump appears with general’s stars, service ribbons, and a Medal of Honor-like decoration in the Truth Social image
The AI photo shows Donald Trump alongside Generals George S. Patton and Douglas MacArthur against a battlefield backdrop. In it, Trump has four stars, while Patton and MacArthur wear only two. This ranking reverses reality. MacArthur actually held a five-star rank, one of just five Americans to reach that level. Meanwhile, Patton held a four-star rank himself.
Trump’s fantasy portrait doesn’t stop at rank. He adds dozens of service ribbons to his chest and a decoration resembling the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military award. The Medal of Honor goes to service members who show “conspicuous gallantry” in combat, risking their lives beyond the call of duty. Every rank salutes recipients, including five-star generals and the president himself, according to the National Medal of Honor Museum.
Trump never served in the armed forces and holds no official military rank. He attended the New York Military Academy, where he became cadet captain. He received four deferments during college for education. A fifth followed in 1968, during the height of the Vietnam War, after a bone spur diagnosis from a Queens podiatrist who rented office space from the president’s father, Fred Trump.
Moreover, this isn’t Trump’s first brush with self-awarded military glory. White House insiders told The Wall Street Journal in April that Trump considered giving himself the Medal of Honor amid his war on Iran, which has claimed 18 troops’ lives so far. The outlet reported he raised the idea at a White House reception, citing his plane’s landing on an unlit runway during a first-term Iraq visit.
All in all, the general’s portrait fits a pattern. Recently, Trump has also used AI to place himself alongside George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and John F. Kennedy.
