Meghan Markle celebrated her 45th birthday on Wednesday, with royal fans outside Buckingham Palace sending their well wishes and sharing hopes for her future. While many wished the Duchess of Sussex a happy birthday, several also made an unexpected request, saying they would like to see her, Prince Harry, and their children reunite with the Royal Family.

Meghan Markle will seemingly spend her birthday at her home in Montecito, California, with Harry and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. However, as tourists and Londoners gathered outside Buckingham Palace, the Daily Express asked members of the public what message they would like to send Markle on her birthday. Among them was Australian visitor Karen Letch, who offered a brief but warm greeting. “Happy birthday! Good luck to her,” she said.
Letch also explained that she and her husband, Harry Bowman, have always been fond of Harry despite his reputation as the royal family’s rebel. “Harry’s the rebel of the family, and we like him, we like a rebel. He should have stayed here,” she said.
Letch then went on to say she would like to see Harry and Markle rebuild ties with the monarchy, particularly for the sake of their children. “I would like to see them come back to the Royal Family, and I would like to see their kids grow up with them all,” she said. “I don’t think they would accept him back, but it would be great to see the kids come back.”
She added that Archie and Lilibet should have the opportunity to experience their royal heritage and also shared her admiration for King Charles. “I think King Charles is amazing but I think once William becomes King it will change the monarchy forever,” she said. The Royal Family has not publicly said whether it will wish Markle a happy birthday. It is also unclear whether they have exchanged any private birthday messages.
