Whoopi Goldberg claimed that one of her favorite things from The View is her massive paycheck. She reflected on how Barbara Walters offered her this job when she needed one. Moreover, she also expressed gratitude for receiving a steady paycheck in an industry where stability and consistent work are tough these days.
Whoopi Goldberg’s The View salary would ‘shock’ fans
In a conversation on the Baby, This is Keke Palmer podcast, Goldberg didn’t reveal her exact salary amount, but she heavily implied that it’s gigantic. She said, “Trust me. You can’t. You would be shocked. As soon as they showed you that check, you’d be like, ‘What the!?” She revealed that at the time when she was offered The View, she used to work at a radio show and needed another job. She said that Walters came to her, revealing that they lost one of the people on the show and asking whether she would be open to joining them.
Goldberg added that she eventually accepted the offer and, since then, has been holding on to this job. However, she clarified that she takes her job very seriously in this economy before reflecting on how the job market hasn’t been good and that not many people have employment opportunities.
“A lot of people don’t have jobs, so, I’m lucky. I enjoy talking, discussing various topics, and interacting with people. And I’m okay with what I think I believe. I don’t mind doing that. Even when it irritates people? That’s what the show is. It’s not irritation, necessarily, but it is called ‘The View,” she continued.
The comedian joined The View in 2007 as a moderator and co-host. She replaced Rosie O’Donnell, who left the show due to personal issues. Her debut garnered 3.4 million viewers. Additionally, over the years, she has also headlined multiple times for her hot takes on several cultural and political debates.
