A popular Disney+ TV show has been renewed for Season 3. This will be the final season for the drama. The series is based on a very celebrated 1838 novel by Charles Dickens.
Disney+’s The Artful Dodger has been renewed for a third and final season, according to Deadline. Thomas Brodie-Sangster (The Queen’s Gambit, Maze Runner series) will return for the final chapter to reprise his titular role of Jack Dawkins/Artful Dodger.
The TV show was originally premiered on the streamer three years ago. Its second season premiered earlier this year. Season 3 production is expected to begin in Sydney in the coming months.
What is Disney+’s The Artful Dodger about?
Based on Charles Dickens’ acclaimed Oliver Twist, The Artful Dodger takes place 15 years after the events of the novel. In the show, Jack Dawkins’ past returns to haunt him, pulling him back to the world of crime after he left pickpocketing behind to become a surgeon.
Besides Brodie-Sangster in the lead role, The Artful Dodger Season 3 will also bring back David Thewlis (Sherlock & Daughter, Landscapers) as Fagin and Maia Mitchell (Until Dawn, Sitting in Bars with Cake) as Lady Belle Fox.
Since the launch of its first season in 2023, the drama has become the most-viewed Australian original title on Disney+. Season 1 was well-received by both critics and viewers and currently holds a stellar 92% Tomatometer score and 96% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Season 2 was released this year and surpassed its predecessor in terms of critical reception. Currently, the second season holds a perfect 100% Tomatometer score alongside a fantastic 96% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Following the Season 3 announcement, Disney Australia and New Zealand’s SVP and managing director, Kylie Watson-Wheeler, said, “The renewal is a testament to the quality of this show, and everyone involved in making it.”
The Disney+ TV show’s third season will see Jo Porter and Rachel Gardner return as executive producers and producers. Chris Martin-Jones will serve as the series producer. Ben Young and Ben C. Lucas will come back as the directors.
The Artful Dodger Season 3 has yet to receive an official release window on Disney+.
