Cooper Hoffman has described the reality behind shooting NSFW scenes with Olivia Wilde on the sets of “I Want Your Sex.”
Hoffman is full of praise for Wilde, lauding her years of experience and complete ease while shooting intimate scenes.
Cooper explains why intimate scenes with Olivia Wilde felt more funny than awkward
“I Want Your Sex” is a racy dramedy that features Cooper as Elliott, a fresh graduate looking for a new gig. Cooper’s character is hired by risque artist Erika Tracy’s (Wilde) gallery, where he is sucked into an intense relationship. The movie shows Elliott as a besotted young man who does everything his employer wants. This included anything from using sex toys and pegging to dressing up like a domestic worker crawling around on fours.
However, Cooper said that filming the intimate scenes was a hilarious experience. “All the time,” the actor answered when asked whether he broke down laughing when shooting the scenes. Hoffman told People that suppressing laughter was impossible: “Like, literally, Olivia shoving panties into my mouth. It’s just all like, it’s really funny.”
The actor also gives the context with a scene where Elliott is blindfolded, and Erika is in a full latex suit. He also mentions that shooting these scenes can be difficult with people you have just met. Incidentally, Hoffman had met Wonders just one time before coming to shoot. He noted that he had met Wilde a few times.
Chase Sui Wonders, who plays Elliott’s roommate in the film, rationalizes the laughter. She said, “You have to laugh. This is an inherently insane situation that we’re going through. We’re all relatively new people to each other, and the fact that we’re entering our dynamic like this is insane.”
Both Cooper and Wonders were in awe of Wilde, saying that they let the veteran run the show. Wonders said, “Olivia’s character is so confident wearing literally nothing on her body and then just running the show. So by design, Cooper and I just got to be like, ‘Yes. Yes, ma’am.’ ”
Apart from Wilde, the intimacy coordinator Yehuda Duenyas, who he says was always “so locked in” at his job.
“I Want Your Sex” hits theatres on July 31.
