For Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to find their way back into the fold of the royal family, they may have to play by King Charles’ rules. As per the Daily Express, the Duchess of Sussex recently described Prince Harry as a “charmer.” He might thus have to rely on that charm to “persuade” her that they need to “play the game” and repair the reported rift with the royal family.
Earlier this month, the couple took their children to see their grandfather at Highgrove home, marking their first meeting with him in four years. The meeting with the King seemed to suggest a warming in relations between the Sussexes and The Firm. According to the Daily Express, a source told Heat World that relations have settled into some normalcy. Charles is now hoping to “see progress” and avoid “another cycle of disagreements and misunderstandings.”
“He put his foot down and told Harry they have to play by his rules, otherwise the door would be shut in the future,” the insider said. “The Highgrove summit was an opportunity that just couldn’t be wasted. Harry knows there has to be a different approach if they’re ever going to progress. He’s spent a lot of time persuading Meghan they need to play the game if they want to be welcomed back into the family. This is their last chance.”
Following weeks of debate about a U.K. visit, the Sussexes came to Britain to back Harry at the end of his Invictus Games engagements. A row over accommodation almost derailed the visit. The 41-year-old duke reportedly expected to stay at Buckingham Palace, but the King pulled the invitation, citing late notice.
