Prince William has received a blunt assessment from a royal expert, who claimed the Prince of Wales’ biggest flaw is believing “he knows best.” The criticism comes as reports suggest William and King Charles III have experienced occasional disagreements behind palace doors despite presenting a united front on major royal issues.
Expert says Prince William thinks ‘he knows the best’
According to royal insiders who spoke to Page Six, William and Charles have not always shared the warmest father-son relationship, even though they continue to work closely as the future of the monarchy takes shape. Royal biographer Hugo Vickers offered a candid explanation for the reported tensions. “The problem with William is that he thinks he knows best,” Vickers told Page Six, delivering a four-word verdict that has drawn attention.
Royal author Robert Jobson also suggested that Prince Harry and King Charles have had disagreements. “There have been differences of opinion and a few problems a couple of years back,” Jobson said.
However, he stressed that both Charles and William understand the importance of maintaining a strong working relationship. “William has to rise above it all if he’s going to be king, and both he and Charles know they have to work together. There are a lot of decisions that Charles will make that will affect William.”
According to Jobson, William will eventually become king, making it essential for him and Charles to cooperate on decisions that shape the future of the monarchy. Despite what some sources described as “eternal battles,” insiders said Charles and William have grown closer through several challenges facing the Royal Family.
In his book “William and Catherine: The Monarchy’s New Era: The Inside Story”, royal expert Russell Myers wrote that Charles and William became increasingly united during Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure from royal life, and amid the controversy surrounding Prince Andrew. According to Myers, those difficult periods strengthened the relationship between the King and his heir.
