Hulu has added another acclaimed comedy movie to its streaming list. Subscribers and fans can begin streaming 2026’s funniest movie on the platform or Hulu on Disney+ from today. A two-season series of the same name is also now available on the streamer.
The cult TV comedy continues with Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie
Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie is now officially streaming on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+. The two-season show with the same title is also available in the U.S. It features the Canadian comedy duo, Matt Johnson and Jay McCarrol, on a horribly wrong time-travel adventure.
As the logline reads, “After a series of misadventures, lifelong friends Matt and Jay continue their quest to book a gig at the legendary venue, the Rivoli. This time, something goes horribly wrong, and they accidentally travel back in time to the year 2008.”
The TV show premiered in February 2017. The comedians follow a guerrilla-style filmmaking process in the movie and show. They have unscripted conversations with people on Toronto streets and capture these moments using hidden cameras.
It was helmed by Johnson, who penned the script with McCarrol. The show follows the adventures of the two as they try to fulfill their lifelong dream of playing a show at The Rivoli, in Toronto’s West End. The movie follows the same adventure as they continue to pursue their dream; however, there is a time-travel misadventure.
The Neon movie made its world premiere at the SXSW Film Festival and later a hometown premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. In early 2026, the movie was released in theaters and received positive responses.
Critics have given it a 96% Tomatometer Score from 116 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. It also received a 95% score on Popcornmeter. Moreover, the comedy flick was praised as “a comedic miracle sure to be a cult classic” by critics.
In Canada, the movie will be available for streaming on Disney+ from August 7, 2026.
