Alan Ritchson’s forgotten drama just pulled off the ultimate streaming comeback nobody saw coming. After debuting to modest box office numbers in 2024, the faith-based film has now climbed to the top of Netflix’s most-watched list.
Ordinary Angels is topping Netflix streaming charts
Ordinary Angels currently sits at No. 1 on the Netflix Top 10 Movies chart in the United States. The 2024 Christian drama film claimed the top spot on July 22, 2026, according to FlixPatrol. The film stars Hilary Swank and Alan Ritchson in a story based on true events.
Jon Gunn directed the film from a screenplay by Meg Tilly and Kelly Fremon Craig. The story follows a Louisville hairdresser who rallies her community to help a sick child. Sharon Stevens discovers that five-year-old Michelle Schmitt urgently needs a liver transplant due to biliary atresia.
Swank plays Stevens, who organizes fundraisers and secures transportation during a massive 1994 snowstorm. Ritchson portrays Ed Schmitt, Michelle’s widower father struggling under $400,000 in hospital debt. Nancy Travis and Tamala Jones also star in the film alongside young actors Emily Mitchell and Skywalker Hughes.
Lionsgate originally released the film theatrically on February 23, 2024, where it earned $20.5 million at the box office. The studio had initially scheduled an October 2023 release but delayed it to avoid competing with Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. Production took place in Winnipeg and Albany, New York, during 2022.
The film previously earned strong reviews from critics and audiences alike. On Rotten Tomatoes, 84% of 102 critics gave it positive reviews with an average rating of 6.6 out of 10. Audiences surveyed by CinemaScore awarded it a rare “A+” grade on an A+ to F scale.
Other notable titles on the Netflix Top 10 Movies list include Desire at No. 2 and Wicked: For Good at No. 3. The Body in the Locker holds the No. 4 position while The Hunger Games rounds out the top five.
