Latest rumor suggests Sydney Sweeney is out of X-Men’s Emma Frost race
Scooper ApocHorseman recently claimed that Sydney Sweeney is no longer being considered for Emma Frost in Marvel Studios’ X-Men film. MCU Film News shared the update, adding further fuel to the ongoing casting speculation. Marvel has yet to officially announce any casting choices for the highly anticipated reboot.
The Euphoria star had previously been rumored as a frontrunner for the beloved mutant role. Her name first emerged in connection with the part several weeks ago. However, the potential casting divided fans, with many voicing their disapproval online.
Meanwhile, Sweeney is not the only Hollywood star recently linked to the character. Scooper MyTimeToShineHello earlier reported that Marvel was also considering Margot Robbie for the same role. The Australian actress earned an Academy Award nomination and starred in Barbie, The Wolf of Wall Street, and I, Tonya.
Robbie also played Harley Quinn across several DCEU entries. Landing the Emma Frost role would make her one of several actors to cross over between DC and Marvel properties. January Jones previously brought the character to life in 2011’s X-Men: First Class.
Emma Frost made her comic book debut in The Uncanny X-Men #129 back in 1980. Writers originally introduced her as a villain before she eventually joined the X-Men roster. Her telepathic powers and iconic diamond form have made her a fan-favorite character for decades.
