Benny Blanco appreciated his wife, Selena Gomez, saying he is “proud” of her in a recent interview. The American record producer praised her for speaking out against immigration enforcement in support of affected families.
Benny Blanco praised Selena Gomez for publicly opposing ICE policies
Blanco, 37, recently reflected on Gomez’s emotional video on ICE, according to OK Magazine. In the interview, he said, “I’m very proud of my wife; she always stands up for what she cares about and took a very strong stance against ICE. It’s ridiculous. It shouldn’t even be necessary to take sides in this.”
Blanco also shared how some people are afraid to speak, believing this might affect their work. However, he did not name any celebrity, and he admitted that he generally avoids talking up front about politics unless someone asks directly. He said, “It’s a recurring debate whether public figures should take sides in these matters or if it’s unfair to burden them with that responsibility. I would never bring up the topic on my own initiative. But if someone asks me a question, I answer honestly. I’m not a historian or a politician, though. I never meddle where I’m not wanted because I don’t have the necessary knowledge.”
Blanco explained how the “Good For You” singer always speaks about issues she cares about. Last year, she posted an emotional video after Donald Trump favored deportations of undocumented immigrants. In the video, she said, “I just wanted to say that I’m so sorry. All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand. I wish I could do something, but I can’t. I’ll try everything. I promise.”
However, this is not the first time she has talked about immigration policies. In 2019, she produced “Living Undocumented” on Netflix, which showcases the lives of undocumented families under Trump’s first presidency. With Blanco backing her remarks, the couple appears to be united in issues they consider important.
