Prince Harry confessed that he was bullied in school because of his hair color on the Joe Marler Will See You Now podcast. The Duke of Sussex guested on the podcast while visiting the UK for his Invictus Games initiative. Harry surprisingly revealed that he is not exactly a ginger during his new podcast appearance.
Prince Harry recalls getting ‘bullied’ in the past because of his hair
Prince Harry revealed that he was “bullied” in the past because of his hair, which seems ginger. He even claimed that his hair is more auburn on the Joe Marler Will See You Now podcast. Marler asked the Prince, “What do people most often get wrong about you?” The Duke of Sussex promptly replied, “Uh, that I’m not ginger.”
The host was taken aback by Harry’s admission. He asked, “Hang on, people get that wrong?” The Duke of Sussex elaborated, “Yeah. Yeah. People think I’m ginger, but I’m more sort of like sunset orange…like auburn. I don’t know why that’s funny.” The crew members enjoyed a laugh at Harry’s admission.
As Marler tried to control his laughter, he asked his crew, “Can we not laugh at the duke, please?” Harry then admitted, “Unless you want to call me ‘Ginge.’ You know, I got bullied a lot at school. I was called ‘Carrot Top.’” Marler hid his face to suppress his laughter in front of Harry, who maintained a straight face. Finally, the podcast host composed himself and said, “I don’t know why they would do… It’s not funny.”
Finally, the Prince replied with a hint of a smile, “I’m going to need therapy after this, I think.” Interestingly, Harry previously addressed his children inheriting his reddish-orange hair color on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert (via Radar Online).
The Duke of Sussex remarked, “I actually really, genuinely thought at the beginning of my relationship [with Markle] that, should this go the distance and we have kids, there’s no way the ginger gene will stand up to my wife’s genes—but I was wrong!” Finally, he added, “Go gingers.”
