A popular horror franchise actor could play Professor X in the X-Men reboot according to a new rumor. The upcoming MCU film will be helmed by Jake Schreier. It’s expected to introduce a new set of actors portraying the iconic X-Men characters on the big screen.

Scooper MyTimeToShineHello reported yesterday that Bill Skarsgård, known for playing Pennywise in Warner Bros. Pictures’ It franchise, was in talks to play a character in the X-Men MCU reboot, potentially Professor X. MyTimeToShineHello reshared the news again today; however, this time it caused a strong reaction among many X-Men fans. Some believe that Skarsgård, who is 35, is far too young to play the role of Charles Xavier.

Besides the It universe, the actor has earned admiration for his performance as Nosferatu in 2024. The horror film also featured Lily-Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, and Willem Dafoe, among others. While the insider has a solid track record, fans should still take the latest rumor with a grain of salt unless Marvel confirms anything.
The rumor, however, comes at an interesting time. Another report has surfaced regarding Charles Xavier’s rumored casting in the upcoming film. Knight Edge Media claimed on X that Patrick Wilson might be the one playing Professor X.
Wilson is mostly known for his Conjuring movie franchise. He also portrayed Ocean Master in DCEU’s Aquaman and its sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
In recent weeks, the film from Marvel Studios has witnessed significant updates. During a recent event in Shanghai, Kevin Feige confirmed that the Mutants are coming very soon. “I can’t wait for all of you to see Avengers: Doomsday, we have a movie after that called Avengers: Secret Wars, and after that the mutants are coming and the X-Men are coming and that’s been a dream of mine.”
Feige added, “I started with the X-Men many, many years ago and to bring a new version into the MCU is going to be very exciting.”
As for the reboot X-Men movie, it has yet to receive an official release date window.
