Donald Trump Becomes First Sitting President To Have Airport Named After Him

Palm Beach International Airport, in Florida, now officially bears the name of President Donald Trump. The renaming comes amid a series of personal branding moves during his second term. Several federal buildings, institutions, programs, and other initiatives have been named after him. It’s reported that the latest rename cost $5.5 million.

Palm Beach airport says the Donald Trump name change cost $5.5 million

Palm Beach Airport has been renamed President Donald J. Trump International Airport to honor him and reflect his strong support in Florida, home to his Mar-a-Lago resort. In an interview with Fox News, Eric Trump addressed the renaming and explained why it’s justified.

He said, “I don’t think there’s anybody more synonymous with Palm Beach than Donald Trump in maybe all of Florida.” The renamed airport had been inaugurated by the Eric Trump family on a private plane during the pre-dawn hours. Although the name change has been successful, it won’t be reflected in baggage tags, tickets, and airline systems until August 18, as stated on the airport’s website (via Reuters).

The US president also took to Truth Social to respond to Palm Beach International Airport’s new name. He wrote, “A very big day in Palm Beach, Florida, where it was my Great Honor to have the Palm Beach International Airport be renamed, by a spectacular vote, The President Donald J. Trump International Airport.”

Further declaring a bright future for the airport, he added, “The Area is HOT, the Location is GREAT, and the Renovation will be SPECTACULAR. Thank you to all in Palm Beach for your Vote and your Confidence. This will soon be one of the Greatest and Most Spectacular Airports anywhere in the World! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”

At present, passports featuring Donald Trump and his signature are also available, an initiative that was announced earlier as part of America’s 250th anniversary celebrations. They can only be issued at the Washington Passport Agency and require an in-person appointment.
