Black Panther 3 could introduce a major mutant to the MCU. The third installment of the Wakanda Saga is currently expected to be Marvel‘s first film following Avengers: Secret Wars.
The rumored Black Panther 3 mutant twist could reshape the MCU’s next chapter
Marvel is set to bring together characters from the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men franchises in Avengers: Doomsday. Black Panther, which is primarily part of the Avengers universe, could also feature a crossover with an X-Men mutant in the third installment.
Scooper James Mack claimed that “‘BLACK PANTHER 3’ will reportedly introduce a new mutant to the MCU.” That said, this is only a rumor and should be treated as such, as Marvel has not released any official details about Black Panther 3.
The scooper did not reveal which mutant is rumored to appear. Fans in the comments have largely speculated that the mystery mutant could be Storm or Magneto.
Marvel’s upcoming X-Men reboot, directed by Jake Schreier, is currently slated for release on May 5, 2028. Before that, Black Panther 3 is reportedly scheduled for February 2028. Ryan Coogler, who directed the first two films, will be back for the third installment. Denzel Washington is set to join the franchise, although his role is undisclosed. Letitia Wright will reprise her role as Shuri/Black Panther.
Introducing a major character in another film before giving them a larger role is a strategy Marvel has used before. Just like the late Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther first debuted in Avengers: Civil War before leading his own movie.
Rumors around an X-Men reboot and potential cast have been really pertinent lately. A few months back, another scooper, Jeff Sneider, said that Odessa A’zio could play the role of Rogue, played by Odessa A’zion. However, as of now, nothing has been made official by Marvel Studios.
