Netflix is preparing to bring one of its most successful young adult dramas to a close. The streaming platform has confirmed that Outer Banks will return for its fifth and final season next month. Madelyn Cline will reprise her role as Sarah Cameron as the story reaches its final chapter.

Netflix has confirmed when viewers can expect the final chapter of Outer Banks. The streaming platform has announced that the fifth and final season of the popular treasure-hunt drama will premiere on August 20, 2026. The final season will consist of 10 hour-long episodes and will bring the story of the Pogues to its long-awaited conclusion.
According to Tudum, the new season resumes the story following the dramatic events in Morocco. The Pogues are left devastated by JJ’s death and remain far from home after losing the Blue Crown. However, as they struggle to recover from the loss of one of their closest friends, new and familiar threats continue to close in around them.
As the stakes continue to rise, the Pogues are driven into a reluctant partnership with Rafe. “It’s the Pogues against the world as they seek to avenge their best friend and bring it on home … one final time,” as per the synopsis.
The final season brings back Chase Stokes as John B Routledge and Madelyn Cline as Sarah Cameron. Other cast members include Madison Bailey as Kiara Carrera, Jonathan Daviss as Pope Heyward, and Drew Starkey as Rafe Cameron, among others.
Netflix originally renewed Outer Banks for a fifth season in November 2024. Since premiering in 2020, the series has become one of the streamer’s most successful young adult dramas. On Rotten Tomatoes, Outer Banks holds an average 79 percent score from critics. Meanwhile, its audience rating currently stands at 67 percent.
