Production and plot details for Season 2 of Evie Coles’ hit spy BBC show have been revealed. Following Season 1’s fantastic debut, the upcoming season promises more mystery and adventure.
The Lady Grace Mysteries Season 2 gets major details
Evie Coles will be back on TV as the BBC has officially renewed The Lady Grace Mysteries for Season 2. Filming for the next season will reportedly begin in July and take place in the UK and Belgium. It will feature 13 episodes, though a specific release date has yet to be announced (via Variety).
Similar to Season 1, the next season is also expected to air on CBBC (BBC for children) and later become available to stream on iPlayer, the network’s video-on-demand service.
According to the official synopsis, the new season will see Grace take on another high-stakes mission while continuing to solve mysteries at the royal court. This time, she will come face-to-face with Queen Elizabeth I’s rival, Mary, Queen of Scots. Meanwhile, she will also attempt to rescue the popular explorer Sir Francis Drake. Along the way, she will face personal challenges as a teenager.
The Lady Grace Mysteries Season 2 will feature most of the original core cast, along with a few new faces. New additions include Imogen Mackie Walker as Mary, Jack Forsyth-Noble as Sir Francis Drake, Amaree Ali as Daniel Bunting, and Joy Tan as Lady Meadows.
Reportedly, director Louise Ní Fhiannachta will also be returning to helm the sequel season, with Jordan Hogg joining her. At the same time, Anna McCleery, Vicki Lutas, and Karissa Hamilton-Bannis will once again serve as the lead writers.
The Lady Grace Mysteries is based on children’s detective books of the same name. They were initially written by Patricia Finney. Later books in the series were co-written by Sara Volger and Jan Burchett.
The story centers on Lady Grace Cavendish. She is a teenage maid of honor to Queen Elizabeth I and secretly works as the Queen’s private investigator. With the help of her friends, Ellie and Masou, Grace takes on dangerous missions, but discreetly.
