Meghan Markle could be heading back to the UK for her first official engagement since stepping away as a senior working royal. A new report claims the Duchess of Sussex will join Prince Harry for Invictus Games-related events during their upcoming visit.
The reported trip would mark Meghan’s first UK engagement in six years and comes amid continued speculation about the Sussexes’ relationship with the Royal Family. However, questions remain over whether Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will ultimately make the journey.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to reportedly partake in Invictus Games meetings at Royal Hospital Chelsea
According to HELLO!, Meghan and Prince Harry are expected to attend meetings connected to the Invictus Games at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, home of the Chelsea Pensioners. Harry is also reportedly scheduled to visit Birmingham Children’s Hospital to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the WellChild Nurse program.
The reported appearance would be Meghan Markle’s first UK engagement since she and Harry stepped back as senior royals in 2020. While the visit has fueled fresh talk of a thaw in royal relations, security concerns continue to complicate the couple’s plans.
According to The Guardian, Harry had hoped to bring Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet to Britain for the Invictus-related events, allowing the children to reunite with King Charles for the first time since 2022. However, a source close to Harry claimed the plans have been thrown into uncertainty after the government declined his request for police protection outside royal residences.
“Their plans to see family, friends, and visit various charitable causes close to the duke’s heart have been pulled out from under their feet at the 11th hour,” the source told The Guardian. The insider added that Harry is “looking at every option,” to safely bring his family to the UK.
The source also claimed Harry remains determined to protect his children from intense media attention. “The hope is they can meet their grandfather, but there is no way that can happen if they are chased by paparazzi wherever they go from the moment they step off the plane. He won’t put his children through that,” the source told The Guardian.
For now, Meghan Markle’s reported return appears centered on supporting Prince Harry’s Invictus commitments.
