Prince William is apparently in no mood for a family reset if Meghan returns to Britain with Harry. Per royal commentator Tom Sykes, the Prince of Wales reacted strongly after learning that the Sussexes were planning to visit King Charles during an upcoming U.K. trip. A source quoted by Sykes alleged that William “threatened to boycott Sandringham” and skipped an important family gathering with the King after hearing about the plans (via OK Magazine).
The flashpoint appears to be larger than Meghan’s return alone. Sykes claimed William was especially upset by the idea that his father had been helping the couple behind the scenes. According to the source, Charles has been assisting with costs linked to the Sussexes’ travel and security arrangements. That alleged support is said to have left William feeling deeply “betrayed.”
Sykes expanded on the claims during an episode of “The Royalist” podcast. He alleged that William’s frustration spilled into the aftermath of Trooping the Colour. “William is so appalled by what he sees as his father’s betrayal,” Sykes said, claiming the Prince then “refused to join a customary family lunch” after the event.
Harry and Meghan’s anticipated U.K. visit is expected to coincide with preparations for the 2027 Invictus Games. According to earlier reports, Harry is keen for Charles to play a role in the Games. “Harry wants it to happen both for the games, and for their relationship,” a source previously told The Sun. The insider added, “It’s his dream to have his father by his side.”
