JD Vance’s Awkward Gesture With Wife Usha Raises Eyebrows

JD Vance shared a seemingly awkward moment with his wife, Usha Vance, sparking a wave of reactions online. The vice president recently appeared on Usha’s podcast, where the viral exchange took place. Netizens have since taken to social media to weigh in on the interaction.

JD Vance’s gesture with wife Usha goes viral

JD Vance sat down with his wife, Usha Vance, for a special Father’s Day episode of her podcast, Storytime with the Second Lady. Usha introduced the vice president to the audience, saying, “I know from personal experience that today’s special reader loves to read to kids. That’s because I see him read books to our own kids every day.”

The second lady added, “That’s right. Today’s special reader is my husband, Vice President of the United States, JD Vance. Thanks for joining us today, honey.” Vance responded, “Of course. Good to see you,” before greeting Usha with a pat on her knees.

What appeared to be an affectionate gesture soon turned into a viral moment. Many netizens deemed the interaction awkward and suggested that they lacked “chemistry.”

Democratic strategist Mike Nellis made an X post reacting to the moment. “The face Usha Vance makes when JD touches her knee is a cry for help if I’ve ever seen one,” he wrote.

Anti-MAGA influencer Joe Gallina also penned a reaction on social media. He said, “Holy s**t. This painfully awkward JD Vance moment is going viral. I’ve seen more chemistry during the Iran negotiations.”

While many have agreed, several others have come to the defense of Vance in the replies, saying that it was simply an affectionate gesture between the couple.

As part of the Father’s Day-themed special episode on the podcast, Vance read a story from Winnie-the-Pooh for the audience. During the interview, the vice president also praised President Donald Trump while explaining his job to kids.

“I’m lucky enough to serve under a president who gives me a lot of responsibility,” Vance said, adding, “So, there are a lot of things that we do.”
