Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is reportedly spending time away from the spotlight despite the legal scrutiny that has surrounded him in recent months. New reports claim the former royal accepted an all-expenses-paid trip to France, raising fresh questions as investigations connected to him continue in the UK.
The reported getaway comes after months of relative seclusion at Sandringham, where Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has largely stayed out of public view following his February arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s France trip sparks backlash
According to Daily Mail, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, 66, traveled by private jet to Brittany, France, at the end of May for what was described as a luxury weekend hosted by Dubai-based billionaire businessman Mohammed A. Baker.
The outlet claimed the former prince flew from Norwich International Airport to Dinard Airport and spent three days at Baker’s horse-breeding estate near St. Malo before returning to the UK. During the trip, Andrew reportedly enjoyed horseback riding along the beach, games of boules, and meals prepared by a private chef.
Local racehorse trainer Arthur Desprez told the publication, “Andrew was the guest of Mohammed Baker. He stayed at his house.”
A worker at the estate also described the visit, saying, “The royal man came for a few days. He had a bodyguard with him, just one,” before adding, “It would have been a relaxing weekend. They rode horses together.”
The source further claimed, “They also played boules together in the courtyard. The prince stayed in the house where Mohammed lives. It is a big house, and it has lots of bedrooms. And the food and wine when he is your host is of exceptional quality.”
The reported holiday has drawn attention because Andrew has maintained a low profile since his arrest earlier this year. Thames Valley Police are continuing an investigation linked to allegations that he shared confidential information with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during his time as a UK trade envoy. Authorities have reportedly widened their inquiry to examine additional allegations involving misconduct, corruption, and sexual wrongdoing.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.
Just days after returning from France, he was photographed driving around the Sandringham estate with a visible mark on his face. Sources reportedly described it as the result of a “non-serious medical condition.”
